The Pantheon de la Guerre was painted immediately following World War I as a cyclorama. The huge painting was cut up and reassembled in the Liberty Memorial in Kansas City in the 1950s, and more paintings were commissioned to complement it. Working with Evergreene Painting Studios of New York, Jan Hessling was part of a team who cleaned and consolidated the paintings. A series of smaller paintings of maps of WW I battlegrounds, original to the Memorial, were also documented, cleaned, and consolidated. |
